"Growing up in a family of artists, it was only natural that Rigel Sauri
gravitated toward an artistic career.
Primarily self-taught, Rigel gleans inspiration for his paintings from the
Yucatan Peninsula where he was born, the Maxican Caribbean where he spent
his young adulthood, and his frequent travels to the Caribbean.
A love of scuba diving and a fascination for nature photography awoke in
Rigel an inmense interest in tropical subjects, both land and sea-oriented.
Turtles, seals, and a wide variety of ocean life inhabit Sauri's vibrant
acrylic canvases, along with vistas and street scenes of the Yucatan and the
rest of Mexico.
Since moving to the United states in the late 80's, Rigel has been
commissioned by hotel chains, restaurants, casinos, professional buildings,
landmarks and private collectors to create murals and trompe-l'oeil in a
broad range of subjects and themes. Currently, Sauri spends part of the year
in Minneapolis where he exhibits his work in galleries, and during the
winter he travels to Mexico in search of subject matter for his masterful
paintings." |
